FreightWatch Group Expands Global Security Solutions with Acquisitions in Asia Pacific, Central America and Ireland
October 22, 2007

DUBLIN, IRELAND — FreightWatch Group (FWG) corporate headquarters announced the acquisitions of several major assets which serve to expand FWG’s global security services. These acquisitions strengthen FWG’s security offerings in key geographical markets including Asia Pacific, Central America, and Ireland.

  • Asia Pacific—FWG acquired Empire Automation Sdn Bhd, a security systems integrator for CCTV and access control systems that has delivered sophisticated security technology installations in demanding sectors such as gaming, cruise ships, and manufacturing. Empire has recently been awarded a number of prestigious contracts in the gaming sector in Asia. This acquisition gives FWG the ability to deliver and extend new security services to its existing customer base throughout Asia Pacific including Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Vietnam.
  • Central America—FWG acquired Advantage SA de CV, a security company based in El Salvador that has a security license to operate across all of Central America including Honduras and Panama. This acquisition increases FWG personnel in Central America from 700 to 996, and will allow FWG to expand offerings to include logistics security, physical security, aviation security and technology security. FWG currently provides security services to 29 airlines operating out of Cancun, Mexico.
  • Ireland—FWG acquired Goldforce Ltd, a security company of 120+ guards across Ireland that provides onsite security surveillance, patrol details, remote video monitoring and alarm response. The incorporation of Goldforce’s high-quality security personnel into FWG Ireland provides a significant platform to allow the company to extend its security presence in the Irish market.

“FreightWatch Group’s decision to acquire these companies is driven by our need to protect the assets of our multinational customers operating in these regions,” says Kieran O’Connor, CEO of FWG. “In El Salvador, for example, we will now be able to secure high-value, theft-sensitive product from Panama City (which borders South America) to Detroit (which is on the US-Canadian border)—a distance of nearly 3,500 kilometers.”

Brad Robinson, Managing Director for FreightWatch Group Asia Pacific operations said of the Malaysia acquisition, “We targeted Empire Automation because it allows us to tap into a space where our customers are already spending; it’s a new revenue stream for us – within the same industry. Empire hosts an impressive management team with a relentless focus on delivering customized solutions to customers, a focus very much in line with that of FWG.”

With a solid presence already established in the UK, The Netherlands, France, United States, Mexico, Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, El Salvador, and the Philippines, these latest acquisitions continue FWG’s goal of expanding operations throughout the world. FWG has experienced significant success with Fortune 500 clients – successes that motivate these same clients to increasingly call on FreightWatch Group to deliver expanded security solutions in emerging markets worldwide.
