Proactive Compliance Monitoring & Loss Prevention

When billions of dollars of product are at stake, you want to be sure your security procedures are strictly enforced at every step of the logistics process. However, even well-intentioned employees and drivers tend to lose focus on security protocols under the pressure of getting their jobs done. To correct for this problem and reinforce your security policies, FreightWatch offers trained risk management officers (RMOs) to help you monitor and measure operational security compliance.

By constantly helping employees and drivers focus on the company’s security procedures, FreightWatch RMOs proactively influence behavioral change and help establish best-practices in the corporate culture. This influence extends to your third-party logistics service providers. The result? Measurable reductions in cargo losses-=-typically substantial enough to cost-justify the investment in a FreightWatch program!

FreightWatch Risk Management Officers (RMOs) perform various roles including:

  • Route Reconnaissance—FreightWatch RMOs can assess security risks for any of the company’s freight transit routes including the integrity of fuel stops, the locations of GPS black spots, and the presence of any roadwork that might cause route diversions.
  • Driver Departure Interviews—Using a customized questionnaire, our security consultant interviews each driver to assess security awareness, and identify any immediate security risks prior to departure. FreightWatch RMOs coach drivers to correct potential security risks before they happen.
  • In-transit, Red Zone Surveillance—Over 80% of theft occurs within 200 miles of the departure point. This is called the Red Zone. Thieves often follow carriers from the point of departure up to 200 miles, waiting for an opportunity to steal from them. By monitoring transportation vehicles while they travel through the risky Red Zone, FreightWatch RMOs dramatically reduce theft incidents by discouraging potential thieves. When the word on the street is that FreightWatch is on the job, then professional criminals go looking elsewhere for easy targets.
  • Risk Managed Escorts—To deter criminal elements and monitor compliance with company security protocols, FreightWatch RMOs can conduct point-to-point cargo security escorts. Using unmarked vehicles fitted with GPS tracking systems and wireless phones, FreightWatch RMOs perform counter surveillance operations and proactively interact with the most vulnerable part of the supply chain process—the driver.
